GTEC Warns Public Against 70 Unrecognised Tertiary Institutions

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has cautioned the public against enrolling in or accepting certificates from 70 tertiary institutions that are currently not recognised in Ghana due to quality assurance concerns.
In a public notice issued on May 28, 2026, the Commission urged prospective students, employers, parents, and the general public to exercise due diligence when dealing with qualifications from these institutions.
GTEC emphasised that certificates issued by the listed institutions may not be accepted for academic progression, professional licensing, or employment purposes in Ghana.
“The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) wishes to inform the public that the institutions listed below are currently not recognised by the Commission due to various quality assurance concerns. Accordingly, the public is advised to exercise due diligence with regard to any certificates issued by these institutions,” the notice stated.
