Former Western North Regional Minister Joojo Rocky Obeng Praises Ghana Card for Solving Brutal Murder Case

Former Western North Regional Minister, Joojo Rocky Obeng, has commended the Ghana Card, describing it as a vital tool that helped solve a gruesome murder case during his tenure.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, May 24, Mr Obeng recounted how a young woman was allegedly lured from the Ashanti Region to the Western North Region and killed.

He said only the victim’s headless body was initially found at the crime scene. However, investigators made a crucial discovery when they found a blood-stained cloth about 50 metres away containing the deceased’s Ghana Card.

According to him, the national identification card enabled the police to establish the victim’s identity and eventually trace and apprehend the alleged killers.

“We got something from the cloth search. And it was the most important piece to help find who the headless body was and who the killers were too,” he wrote.

Obeng noted that the Ghana Card “did all the speaking” for the victim and played a decisive role in the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.

He added that the incident clearly demonstrated the importance of a reliable national identification system in criminal investigations, aligning with recent comments by Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka on the security value of the Ghana Card.

The Ghana Card, introduced under Ghana’s national digital identification programme, continues to be promoted as a key instrument for public administration, banking, and security operations.
