One Killed in Police Shootout During Operation Over Akuapem-Akropong Chieftaincy Violence

A man was killed when he was shot dead in the midst of a bloody two hour gun fight with police officers during an early morning raid associated with recent violent clashes in the zone. The dead man was Kwasi Ansah Eku, who is popularly known as “Dragon”. Police said he opened fire on officers who had approached him to arrest him at a house on Akuffo Road in the early hours of Friday, April 10, 2026. Dragon’s body is being transferred to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for preservation and autopsy. Ongoing Investigations. It follows the outbreak of violence and rising tensions on an ancient chieftaincy dispute in the Akuapem Traditional Area.
