When Mussa Dankwah’s recent polls predicted an NDC win in the just ended Akwatia By election, many watchers across the major political parties were baffled, given the electoral history in Akwatia. He himself had implied that he knew it was a wild card.
Dankwah had been the subject of social media trolls over some of his polls, trolls he himself had responded to his detractors in equal measure, especially those from within the opposition NPP.
“Once you work with data and you understand and relay the dynamics of data, you get to know what will happen”, Dankwah heaved with a relief, during an interview last night whilst dissecting the results of the Akwatia election vis-a-vis his polls.
The Global InfoAnalytics had predicted that some 24% of voters who cast their votes for the late MP in 2024 had been swayed into voting for the NDC. Whereas Dankwah’s exit polls showed that the 24% had dropped to 16%, it was sufficient indication of fatality for the NPP’s Solomon Asumadu.
Undoubtedly, the new wave of data analysis in Ghana’s electoral cycle is to be encouraged and the Global Analytics is perhaps earning their right of place as Ghana’s answer to Gallup.
