Assafuah Petitions Dean of Diplomatic Corps over Rambo-style Arrests and Unlawful House Raids

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah ESQ has submitted a formal petition to the Dean of Diplomatic Corps over the growing spate of unlawful arrests and house raids since the NDC took over the reigns of government.

Narrating some of the unfortunate incidents, he cited the cases of the former Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Ernest Addison and former Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, whose homes were raided by elements purported to be from the National Security apparatus, earlier this year.

The legislator also drew attention to the worrying trend of unlawful arrests targeted at key members of the opposition party such as Kwame Abronye, who has recently suffered the same fate as the likes of Chairman Wontumi and others.

He cautioned that using state security institutions such as EOCO and NIB to harass political opponents spelt doom for Ghana’s democracy, charging the Diplomatic Service to be concerned and take urgent steps to address the matter.
