Vincent Ekow Assafuah Leads Young Parliamentarians to Rwanda

A delegation of young parliamentarians from Ghana, led by Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, on Thursday paid a working visit to the Ministry of Public Service and Labour in the Republic of Rwanda to engage in high-level discussions on labour and public service matters, with particular emphasis on tackling youth unemployment across Africa.
The engagement formed part of broader state-to-state efforts to foster collaboration among African nations in addressing pressing employment challenges facing the continent’s young population.
Hon. Assafuah, who represents Old Tafo Constituency in Ghana’s Parliament, said the visit was aimed at exploring innovative policy models and best practices in Rwanda’s labour and public service sector that could be adapted to Ghana and other African countries.
“Our discussions focused on sustainable job creation, youth empowerment, and improving efficiency within public sector institutions,” he said. “Rwanda’s progress in building a modern, responsive public service offers valuable lessons that other African nations can learn from.”
The meeting brought together key officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of Public Service and Labour, who shared insights into the country’s strategies for promoting entrepreneurship, skills development, and digital transformation within the labour market.
The young parliamentarians also explored avenues for inter-parliamentary collaboration, particularly in crafting youth-centered legislation and strengthening policy exchange between African states.
Hon. Assafuah expressed optimism that such engagements would deepen regional cooperation and contribute meaningfully to solving the continent’s unemployment crisis.
“This is not just a bilateral dialogue — it’s a step toward a continental partnership for sustainable youth employment,” he added.
The visit underscores growing momentum among Africa’s emerging political leaders to work collectively toward creating inclusive economic opportunities for young people across the continent.
