Minerals Commission CEO, Martin Ayisi Esq. reassigned to sector Ministry.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission has been reassigned to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, with immediate effect.

Mr. Ayisi, who was appointed by the previous government had come under public scrutiny for his continued role in office, even under a change of government. Especially because the matter of illegal small scale mining, popularly known as Galamsey had been a major factor in the previous election, a menace which had not reflected well on Mr. Ayisi’s tenure as CEO of the Commission.

The National Concerned Small-Scale Miners Association, Ghana (NCSSMAG) only a few months ago, had accused Mr. Ayisi’s led commission of a failure to tackle the Galamsey menace.

The Minerals Commission is the Government agency established under the Minerals Commission Act 1993 (Act 450), charged with the responsibility of developing and coordinating mineral sector policies and monitoring implementation.
