NAIMOS ARRESTS 19 SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINERS AT MPOHOR FIASE

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) arrested 19 suspected illegal miners during an operation in Mpohor Fiase, Western Region, on 29 July 2026.
The operation targeted two major illegal mining sites and several smaller locations. The Taskforce destroyed 16 chanfang machines, nine water pumps and three makeshift structures, and removed critical components of an excavator to render it inoperable.
A pump-action shotgun with four rounds of ammunition was seized, and GH¢120,000 in cash was found in the possession of one of the suspects. The suspects and seized items have been secured for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
NAIMOS remains committed to sustained operations to disrupt illegal mining and to protect Ghana’s natural resources.
