NAIMOS SEIZES 15 EXCAVATORS IN BONO REGION OPERATION

Story By: Isaac Ochem.
The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), with support from the Ghana Armed Forces, conducted special operations on 18 and 19 July 2026 in Amomaso and the Berekum Forest area to disrupt illegal mining activities that threaten River Amuma, other streams, and farmland.
The operations resulted in the seizure of 15 excavators, two vehicles, two weapons and 17 drums of petroleum products. The Taskforce also destroyed two chanfang machines and seven makeshift structures used to support illegal mining.
No arrests were made because the operators had left the sites before the Taskforce arrived. Despite the difficult, marshy terrain, the seized equipment was successfully evacuated to a secure military facility for further investigation and administrative action.
NAIMOS remains committed to sustained operations to protect water bodies, forests and agricultural land from illegal mining.
