Regular Services Resume at KATH OPD After Suspension of Doctors’ Strike

Activities at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have fully resumed, with patients being called in and assigned to their respective doctors, while those with scheduled appointments are receiving attention.

The return to normal operations follows the suspension of a four-day strike by doctors, which was triggered by the suspension of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo.

Hospital sources confirmed that doctors and other health workers have returned to full duty, resulting in a significant improvement in service delivery.

The OPD, which saw reduced activity during the industrial action as many patients sought care at other facilities, is now bustling once again with patients receiving consultations and treatment.

The strike was called off following the intervention of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. However, the doctors have indicated that they expect the government to engage all relevant stakeholders to find a lasting and amicable resolution to the issues that led to the dispute.
