Cambodia Denies Ordering Ghanaians and Other Africans to Leave by May 31

The General Department of Immigration under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has refuted reports claiming that Ghanaian nationals and citizens of other African countries with expired immigration waivers have been ordered to leave the country by May 31, 2026.
The clarification comes after a statement circulated widely on social media, allegedly from Cambodian authorities, directing certain African nationals, including Ghanaians, to depart by the deadline or face arrest.
In an official statement issued on Friday, May 29, 2026, the General Department of Immigration described the circulating reports as “completely untrue.”
“The General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to clarify that the information published on those websites is completely untrue,” the statement read.
The department urged both nationals and the international community to rely solely on official government communication channels for accurate immigration information.
“To obtain official information, the national and international public are requested to visit the official website of the General Department of Immigration at www.immigration.gov.kh or make a direct call for further information via the Hotline number,” it added.
