A fire that broke out at the Suame Post Office Market on Wednesday has destroyed about 300 shops and stalls, leaving their owners in despair. The fire is reported to have started after dawn. As at about 2 am, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service were seen at work, putting out the fire.
Supported by residents, many of whom had earlier attempted to break into some of the stores to salvage what wares they could at the start of the blaze.
Amateur trending videos show grim sights of helpless traders and residents standing by. No causalities have been reported and the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
