Angry NDC party grassroots members including Branch executives within the Atiwa East District in the Eastern Region have heavily descended on their District Chief Executive, Mr. Ernest Ntim for his involvement into Illegal Mining ( Galamsey ) activities in some communities in the District.
The irate NDC grassroots according to them have series of evidence of Galamsey activities being spearheaded by their DCE which they described as a STAB IN THE BACK of the President John Dramani Mahama who has waged war on illegal mining activities in the country.
The NDC grassroots and Branch executives in the Atiwa East further disclosed that they recently informed the police command to effect the arrest of one Victor Ntim , an elder brother to the DCE of Atiwa East who were mining illegally with Junior Ntim and Yaa Baby Ntim all siblings and relatives of the DCE whom he has handed over the galamsey sites to cause destruction to the environment, pollute the Birim river that passes through the District and destiny the forest reserves.
The NDC grassroots group hinted further that the Atiwa East DCE because he Chairs the District Security Council ( DISEC ) he ordered for the release of his siblings who were arrested by the police for mining illegally and now Yaa Baby Ntim is continuing with the destruction of the forest reserves in the district with impunity and without fear with state security protection.
The NDC group further stated that they have videos and pictorial evidence to support and back their claims of their DCE and his family involvement into galamsey activities in the Atiwa east district.
They are by this appealing to the appointing authority to take action on these developments which is undermining the NDC led President John Dramani Mahama government in the fight against illegal mining activities.
